Hawaii Rep. Della Au Belatti announces plans to run for Congress

HONOLULU (Island News) -- State Representative Della Au Belatti announced the launch of her 2026 Campaign for Congress.

Rep. Belatti announced her plans to run for House District 1 on Thursday, Sept. 25 outside the Hawaii State Library.

“Even though I’m running for Congress, you can put it in the bank that I will be fighting for the people of Hawaii until I get elected to Congress,” Rep. Belatti said. “And I will be demanding from our own State Legislature: Protect our people. Protect our people now. We can pass laws now in a special session”

The veteran lawmaker was first elected in 2006 and she is currently serving her 10th term as the Representative of State House District 26 (Makiki, Tantalus, Punchbowl and Papakolea).

For nearly 20 years in local politics, Rep. Belatti has served as House Majority Leader, House Health Committee, Hawaii Supreme Court Law Clerk, Hawaii State Campaign Spending Commissioner and her current role, House Public Safety Committee Chair.

Before her career in the Hawaii State Capitol, she graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Princeton University and Maryknoll School.
